Griffith Tennis Club is hosting the annual Open Day on Wednesday 23 January 2019, from 5pm to 9pm at the courts.
Entry is free and all ages and skill levels are welcome – it’s a fantastic opportunity to check out the club, sign the kids up for coaching and meet other keen tennis players. A free BBQ will be provided and drinks will be available to purchase from the canteen.
There will be free kids coaching sessions and a tennis-cardio circuit, which is always a fun and physical entertainment (for participants and spectators!) There will be plenty of social tennis matches as an excellent chance to brush up on your serve in preparation for the Griffith Tennis Club Championships coming up in February. And for those Aus Open keen-beans, we’ll be screening the quarterfinals matches in the air-conditioned club house.
Memberships will be taken for those on the awesome summer-tennis band-wagon wishing to sign up for the year and receive discounted social court hire fees (club members can book courts for free!) Registration will also be open for the summer evening competition, which commences in the first week of February and runs through to May.
Event and Entry Details for the 2019 MIA Open
2020 will mark the 100th year of Griffith’s longest running sporting event, the MIA Open Tennis Tournament.
The tournament began in 1920, and has run every year since – we’d like to celebrate this Milestone year by remembering the tournament’s rich history, acknowledge the importance and contribution that events like this have in a community, and of course by making the 2020 MIA Open the best yet!
We are inviting anyone who is interested in participating in the planning and organisation of the event to join us -
All members welcome ...and anyone who would like to get involved by joining the committee to help tennis flourish in Griffith are especially welcome!
The 2020 Club Championships will be held Friday 16th October from 5pm. Registration for the champs is free but I'm afraid that we won't be holding a BBQ this year […]
